17History
Chanson Père & Fils was founded in Beaune in 1750, making it one of the Côte de Beaune's oldest négociant-domaines. The house built its reputation on Beaune Premier Cru vineyards — holdings accumulated over two centuries that remain central to the portfolio today. In 1999, the champagne house Bollinger acquired Chanson, providing capital for cellar renovation and vineyard investment while preserving the Burgundy-first identity. The technical directorship of Jean-Pierre Confuron's son Gilles, who joined in the early 2000s, further sharpened the quality trajectory.
Winemaking Approach
Eighteen parcels across 7 communes — concentrated in Beaune and Pernand-Vergelesses, with satellites in Chassagne-Montrachet, Savigny-lès-Beaune, and Aloxe-Corton — give Chanson a broad northern Côte de Beaune canvas. A single Grand Cru parcel, Corton Vergennes (0.65 ha), sits at the apex; the Premier Cru backbone runs deep, with Beaune Clos des Mouches (4.24 ha), Beaune Teurons (3.92 ha), and Pernand Les Vergelesses (5.31 ha) as the volume leaders. Both estate and négoce wines are bottled under the Chanson label, with domaine parcels given priority treatment in the cellar.
