History

Domaine Taupenot-Merme is based in Auxey-Duresses, a quiet village west of Meursault that produces both red and white — yet the estate's most important holdings lie far to the north, in the grand cru belt of Gevrey-Chambertin and Morey-Saint-Denis. The domaine emerged from the union of two Burgundy families and today operates across nine communes, giving it a breadth unusual for an estate of its size.

Winemaking Approach

Fifteen parcels span the full length of the Côte de Nuits and reach back south to Auxey-Duresses — seven grand crus and eight premier crus. The range reads like a roll-call of Gevrey-Chambertin's great lieux-dits: Charmes-Chambertin, Mazis-Chambertin, Mazoyères-Chambertin, and Ruchottes-Chambertin sit alongside Clos de la Roche and a slice of Clos des Lambrays. That range of terroirs, compressed into a single domaine, demands discipline in the cellar to let each site speak for itself rather than blending them into house homogeneity.
