5History
Long-Depaquit is a Chablis estate with roots in the eighteenth century — among the older established houses in that northernmost corner of Burgundy. The domaine is now owned by Albert Bichot, the Beaune négoce house, which acquired it and has maintained it as a distinct Chablis label rather than absorbing it into the parent portfolio.
Winemaking Approach
The estate works 13 parcels across 5 communes, spanning all four levels of the Chablis appellation hierarchy from village wine up through the premiers crus and grands crus. That breadth makes Long-Depaquit one of the more complete Chablis producers in terms of range. The grands crus are vinified and aged with moderate oak influence — a departure from the fully unoaked style favored by many Chablis traditionalists, but in keeping with Bichot's approach to structured whites.
The estate's most distinctive holding is the Monopole La Moutonne — a named lieu-dit within Vaudésirs and Preuses carrying its own historical designation, producing a white that stands apart from the standard grand cru lineup.
