History
Jean-Marc Brocard is a Chablis estate based in Beine, built from nearly nothing over two generations. Jean-Marc Brocard arrived in Chablis in 1974 with a few rented parcels; his son Julien now directs the domaine. The estate grew steadily — acquiring parcels across the appellation — and today ranks among the larger independent Chablis producers, with holdings in all five grand cru lieux-dits as well as multiple premier crus.
Winemaking Approach
The estate works 19 parcels across 9 communes, with grand cru Chablis (5 parcels) and premier cru Chablis (14 parcels) forming the backbone. Brocard farms biodynamically and has done so since 2010, a commitment that shapes both viticultural practice and public identity. In the cellar, stainless steel dominates for village and premier cru levels, preserving the sharp mineral tension that Kimmeridgian clay-limestone soils produce. Grand cru wines see more wood — though never to the point where oak obscures the chalk.
