History
Clotilde Davenne is a Chablis-based producer working seven parcels across four communes. Chablis sits at Burgundy's northern edge, where Kimmeridgean limestone soils and a cool continental climate drive the region's signature mineral, high-acid style. Davenne's range spans Grand Cru and Premier Cru Chablis alongside village-level sites — an unusually broad portfolio for an independent producer of this scale.
Winemaking Approach
Seven parcels, three of them Grand Cru, give the estate access to Chablis' most prestigious terroir — Bougros on the western side of the Grand Cru slope, the central benchmark Les Clos, and Blanchots on the eastern flank. Four Premier Cru sites add breadth: Montmains and Vaillons on the left bank, Fourchaume (La Chapelle-Vaupelteigne) on the right, and Vaucoupin in Chichée to the southeast. Working this range entirely in Chardonnay, the domaine relies on site contrasts rather than grape variety for differentiation.
