Montmains is a premier cru in Chablis — the northernmost wine village in Burgundy, where Kimmeridgean limestone soils and a cool continental climate combine to give Chardonnay its most austere, mineral expression. At 78.35 ha across identified holdings, Montmains is among the larger premier cru *climats* in the appellation, drawing grapes from multiple sub-lieux-dits that are often bottled under the Montmains name.
