コート・シャロネーズ地区のメルキュレに位置するル・クロ・デュ・ロワは、この村を代表するプルミエ・クリュの一つである。総面積は7.12ヘクタールを擁し、主要な所有者には2.03ヘクタールを保持するメゾン・シャンジーをはじめ、ドメーヌ・テュピニエ＝バティスタ、ドメーヌ・ヴォアリック、ドメーヌ・ミシェル・ジュイヨが名を連ねる。さらにシャトー・ド・シャミレイやドメーヌ・フェヴレもこの地に区画を所有している。歴史的に王室との関わりを示唆する名称を持つこの畑は、村内でも重要な位置付けにあり、複数の有力な生産者によって分割・管理されている。限られた面積の中で、各所有者がそれぞれの区画からメルキュレのテロワールを反映したワインを造り続けている。
Le Clos du Roy is a premier cru *climat* in Mercurey, the Côte Chalonnaise's largest and most productive red-wine commune. The name — "the king's enclosure" — echoes a pattern of medieval royal or seigneurial landholding that left its stamp across Burgundy's vineyard nomenclature. Mercurey earned its premier cru designation in 1943, predating most Côte Chalonnaise appellations, and Le Clos du Roy sits among its well-established named sites.
