Clos des Montaigus is a premier cru in St-Martin-sous-Montaigu, a satellite commune that appends its wines to the Mercurey appellation. The Côte Chalonnaise sits directly south of the Côte d'Or and produces both reds and whites in a more understated style.
Pinot Noir, red only. Farmed under standard Burgundy premier cru rules: minimum density of 9,000 vines per hectare, yield ceiling around 45–48 hl/ha.
