Domaine Virgile Lignier-Michelot is a Morey-Saint-Denis estate whose name fuses two families long rooted in the village — the Ligniers and the Michelots. Morey-Saint-Denis sits between Gevrey-Chambertin and Chambolle-Musigny on the Côte de Nuits, producing reds that tend to blend Gevrey's structure with Chambolle's finesse. Virgile took the domaine from his father Hubert Lignier and built a portfolio anchored in Morey grand and premier cru. Early history is not widely documented.
Winemaking Approach
Six parcels spread across Morey-Saint-Denis and one neighboring commune — two Grands Crus, four Premier Crus — give the estate a tightly focused single-village identity. Both Clos de la Roche and Clos St-Denis appear in the lineup, albeit in small quantities. The domaine works in the traditional parcel-bottling model; detailed technical information is not widely published.
