Domaine Georges Lignier is a small estate based in Chambolle-Musigny, with its vineyard weight concentrated in Morey-Saint-Denis. The Lignier family name has deep roots in this pocket of the Côte de Nuits — several estates bear the surname — and Georges Lignier built a portfolio anchored by the two great Morey Grand Crus, Clos Saint-Denis and Clos de la Roche, while also securing parcels in Bonnes-Mares and Charmes-Chambertin.
Winemaking Approach
Eight parcels across five communes (Morey-Saint-Denis, Chambolle-Musigny, Gevrey-Chambertin, and village appellations) give the estate a Côte de Nuits sweep unusual for its scale. The 2.00 ha Clos des Ormes in Morey Premier Cru is the largest single holding and the volume workhorse of the range. Grand Cru vinification follows traditional low-intervention practice — gentle extraction, measured new oak — to preserve each site's character rather than impose a uniform profile.
