Domaine Ghislaine Barthod

Domaine Ghislaine Barthod is a Chambolle-Musigny estate — and one of the village's defining addresses for premier cru Pinot Noir. Ghislaine Barthod took over from her father Gaston in the early 1990s and has since built a portfolio of thirteen premier cru parcels within Chambolle-Musigny and its immediate neighbours. The domaine's strength lies not in grand cru holdings but in the sheer range of premier crus it works, making it an unusually complete map of the village's diversity at that level.

Thirteen premiers crus concentrated in three communes, the overwhelming majority within Chambolle itself — Les Cras, Aux Beaux Bruns, Les Veroilles, Les Châtelots, Les Charmes, Les Baudes, Les Fuées, Les Gruenchers, Aux Combottes, Les Noirots, and more. That breadth is deliberate: each climat gets its own vinification, with the goal of expressing the textural and aromatic differences that separate, say, the structured Les Cras from the silkier Les Charmes. Winemaking is traditional — whole-cluster use varies by vintage, ageing in barrel, no heavy extraction. The approach values transparency over power.
