History
Domaine Chandon de Briailles has farmed the northern Côte de Beaune from Aloxe-Corton for generations. The estate entered broader critical consciousness in the 1980s and 1990s as the de Nicolaÿ family — who have owned the property since the nineteenth century — modernized the cellar while preserving the domaine's resolutely traditional character. A pivot to biodynamic viticulture followed, giving the wines an added dimension of mineral precision.
Winemaking Approach
Eight parcels across 4 communes (Aloxe-Corton, Pernand-Vergelesses, and two sites in Savigny-lès-Beaune) orbit a single Grand Cru anchor: a 5.00 ha holding in Corton, one of the appellation's largest single-domaine parcels. Biodynamic farming — certified for over a decade — shapes the picking decisions and cellar work alike. The style runs elegant and mid-weight rather than extracted, with whole-cluster fermentation used selectively depending on the vintage.
