History
Maison Capitain-Gagnerot is based in Aloxe-Corton, at the foot of the great Corton hill that marks the northern boundary of the Côte de Beaune. The hill is shared among three communes — Aloxe-Corton, Pernand-Vergelesses, and Ladoix-Serrigny — and produces the only Grand Cru red of the Côte de Beaune alongside the white Corton-Charlemagne. Capitain-Gagnerot has assembled holdings across that entire cluster, spread over seven Burgundy communes in total. Specific founding records are not extensively available in public sources.
Winemaking Approach
With 14 parcels spanning 7 communes — including 4 Grands Crus — Capitain-Gagnerot operates as a genuinely multi-terroir house rather than a village specialist. The Ladoix-Serrigny parcels dominate in area, particularly La Micaude (1.64 ha) and Les Moutottes (1.48 ha), both of which are sold under the Aloxe-Corton Premier Cru designation.
