Les Gouresses is a premier cru in Montagny-lès-Buxy, a commune at the southern tip of the Côte Chalonnaise planted exclusively to Chardonnay. Montagny is unusual in Burgundy — the appellation allows any village-level parcel meeting a minimum alcohol threshold to carry the *premier cru* designation, giving the hierarchy a different character than it holds on the Côte d'Or.
