Les Paquiers is a premier cru *climat* in Montagny-lès-Buxy, at the southern end of the Côte Chalonnaise. Montagny is a white-wine-only appellation — every hectare is planted to Chardonnay — and all its named *lieux-dits* carry premier cru status, a quirk of the AOC rules that distinguishes it from the more hierarchical structure elsewhere in Burgundy.
Les Paquiers produces white wine from Chardonnay. Montagny Chardonnay tends toward a leaner, mineral profile with firm acidity — less opulent than Mâconnais whites, and more approachable in price than premier crus from the Côte de Beaune.
