Les Combes au Sud is a premier cru *climat* in Saint-Aubin, a village tucked into the hills directly behind Puligny-Montrachet and Chassagne-Montrachet. Saint-Aubin makes Chardonnay on similar soils to its famous neighbours — the same Bathonian and Bajocian limestone — at prices that remain substantially lower. The name "au Sud" signals its southerly aspect, a characteristic that helps ripen fruit in cooler vintages.
Chardonnay, white only. Registered holdings total roughly 0.54 ha across 8 producers — a small parcel with broad ownership. The wines from Saint-Aubin premier cru tend toward bright acidity, white-peach fruit, and a stony mineral finish.
