シャサーニュ・モンラッシェの斜面上部に位置するラ・ロマネは、コート・ド・ボーヌを代表する一級畑の一つである。この畑は、近隣のグランド・リュショットが持つふくよかな果実味とは対照的に、溌剌とした構造を備えているのが特徴だ。その引き締まった骨格は、ドメーヌ・シャトー・ド・ラ・マルトロワが追求するような、澱由来の還元的なスタイルとも見事に調和する。主な所有者には、0.81ヘクタールを擁するモレイ・コフィネをはじめ、ヴァンサン・ダンセール、ポール・ピヨ、フォンテーヌ・ガニャール、シャトー・ド・ラ・マルトロワ、ラミー・カイエが名を連ねる。村内でも屈指の評価を得るこのテロワールは、精緻でエネルギーに満ちた白ワインを生み出している。
La Romanée is a premier cru *climat* in Chassagne-Montrachet, a village best known for grand cru white wine yet carrying a substantial red-wine tradition alongside it. The commune shares borders with Puligny-Montrachet to the north and Santenay to the south, occupying a broad, gently sloping section of the southern Côte de Beaune.
