La Chassière is a premier cru in the commune of St-Martin-sous-Montaigu, within the Mercurey appellation of the Côte Chalonnaise. St-Martin-sous-Montaigu is one of several communes that fall under the Mercurey umbrella, and La Chassière represents one of its classified *climat* parcels. The Côte Chalonnaise sits directly south of the Côte d'Or, producing reds and whites in a direct, traditional idiom.
Pinot Noir, red only. Standard Burgundy premier cru conditions apply: 9,000 vines per hectare minimum, yields around 45–48 hl/ha.
