History

Domaine Drouhin-Laroze is a family-owned estate in Gevrey-Chambertin, founded in 1850. The name reflects the union of two Gevrey-Chambertin families — Drouhin and Laroze — and despite sharing a surname with the Beaune négociant Maison Joseph Drouhin, the two houses are entirely separate family lines.

The estate has passed through successive generations for over 170 years and remains an archetypal Gevrey-Chambertin family domaine. In recent years the estate also established a small négociant arm, Maison Laroze de Drouhin, to complement the domaine operation.

Winemaking Approach

Drouhin-Laroze makes all its red wines from 100% Pinot Noir, with a range running from village wines to grand cru. The house style rests on moderate new oak and on letting each parcel express its own character directly — without heavy extraction or barrel marking. The younger generation has taken on a more active role in recent years, bringing visible gains in viticultural precision and winemaking rigour.
