Domaine Barat
Profile

History
Domaine Barat is a small Chablis estate. Chablis occupies a position apart from the rest of Burgundy — geographically isolated, cooler, and built on Kimmeridgean limestone that gives its Chardonnay a mineral edge and a saline tension unlike anything on the Côte d'Or. Four premier cru parcels across three communes place this estate firmly within Chablis's classic terroir. Public records on the founding are limited.
Winemaking Approach
A small estate with little public information. Four premier crus — Vaillons, Côte de Léchet, Les Fourneaux, and Mont de Milieu — span the Chablis and Fleys communes, covering the range of exposures that characterise the appellation. Total holdings are substantial for the style: Vaillons at 3.10 ha and Côte de Léchet at 3.00 ha are the principal parcels.
