Pied d'Aloup is a premier cru *climat* in the commune of Fyé, on the right bank of the Serein river roughly 100 km northwest of the Côte d'Or. Chablis premier crus typically fold under one of seventeen named appellations, and Pied d'Aloup falls within the Montée de Tonnerre cluster — some of Chablis's most mineral-driven whites grow along this corridor of Kimmeridgian marl and limestone.
