Domaine Thibault Liger-Belair is based in Chambolle-Musigny and draws on one of Burgundy's more storied family names — the Liger-Belair line has roots in the Côte de Nuits stretching back to Napoleon's era. Thibault, cousin to Louis-Michel Liger-Belair of Vosne-Romanée, established his own domaine in the early 2000s, gradually assembling a small but impressive portfolio anchored by grand cru parcels in Vougeot, Vosne-Romanée, and Flagey-Échézeaux alongside a substantial holding in Nuits-St-Georges Les St-Georges.
Winemaking Approach
Six parcels across six communes — a tight but vertically deep lineup from Richebourg and Clos de Vougeot at the summit down through Les St-Georges (2.06 ha, a premier cru of near-grand cru standing) and smaller parcels in Vosne-Romanée and Chambolle-Musigny. The cellar approach leans toward minimal intervention, with gentle extraction and restrained oak, in keeping with the Chambolle aesthetic of precision over power.
