Les St-Georges is a premier cru in Nuits-St-Georges — and, by many accounts, the parcel most frequently cited when arguments for elevating a Nuits site to grand cru resurface. The *climat* sits on the south side of the village, on a mid-slope bench of Bathonian limestone and brown calcareous soils that drains well and accumulates warmth. Nuits-St-Georges carries no grands crus of its own, yet Les St-Georges has long served as the benchmark against which the appellation's broader ambitions are measured.
Pinot Noir, red only. At approximately 5.56 ha across 8 producers, the vineyard is substantial for a Nuits premier cru. The wines tend toward structure and density — firm tannin in youth, resolving over a decade into something more complete.
Domaine Thibault Liger-Belair holds the largest share at 2.06 ha, followed by Domaine Henri Gouges (1.08 ha) and Hospices de Nuits (0.96 ha). Other notable owners:
