History

Domaine Jean Grivot is based in Flagey-Échezeaux, the Côte de Nuits commune that houses Échezeaux and Grands Échezeaux — two grands crus tucked between Clos de Vougeot and Vosne-Romanée. The Grivot family has farmed vines in this corridor for generations, assembling an estate that now spans 14 parcels across five communes. The domaine's reputation rests on the concentration and precision of its Vosne-Romanée and Nuits-Saint-Georges premiers crus as much as on its grand cru holdings.

Winemaking Approach

Étienne Grivot manages the estate with close attention to vine age and low yields — the house style aims for density without heaviness. Fourteen parcels across five communes (Flagey-Échezeaux, Vosne-Romanée, Vougeot, Nuits-Saint-Georges, and beyond) give the range a natural hierarchy: grand cru bottlings at the top, a layered set of premiers crus in the middle. Work in the cellar follows a classical Côte de Nuits approach — whole-cluster fermentation to varying degrees, medium-length élevage in barrel — without chasing a formula.
