History

Domaine Bonneau du Martray is an Aloxe-Corton estate defined almost entirely by the Corton hill. For most of its history the domaine was the single largest owner of Corton-Charlemagne — its 9.50 ha block of that Grand Cru made it the benchmark against which other Corton-Charlemagne producers were measured. The estate also holds 1.70 ha of red Corton and a small parcel of Charlemagne (0.25 ha). In 2017 it was acquired by Stan Kroenke, but winemaking continuity has been maintained.

Winemaking Approach

The estate's production is built around two Grands Crus: Corton-Charlemagne in white and Corton in red. The scale of the Corton-Charlemagne holding — nearly a tenth of the entire climat — allows Bonneau du Martray to bottle with the kind of volume and consistency that smaller Corton estates cannot match. Parcels span three communes (Aloxe-Corton, Pernand-Vergelesses, Ladoix-Serrigny), covering the full sweep of the Corton hill's different exposures.
