Les Vignes des Prés is a premier cru *climat* in Montagny-lès-Buxy, Côte Chalonnaise. The name translates literally as "the vines of the meadows," pointing to land once shared between pasture and cultivation before the hillside was committed fully to vine. Montagny produces only Chardonnay under its AOC rules — an unusual purity for the Chalonnaise — and the village's many small premier cru parcels are classified by yield and ripeness criteria rather than a strict ranked map.
Les Vignes des Prés produces white wine from Chardonnay. A single producer holds the parcel. The wines carry Montagny's characteristic light body and clean fruit, drinking well young with minimal oak influence from most estates.
