クロ・フォバール
サントネイのプルミエ・クリュ、クロ・フォバールは3.93ヘクタールの面積を持つ畑です。ここは「ミュルジェ」と呼ばれる、開墾時に取り除かれた石を積み上げた堤に囲まれているのが特徴です。この石が日中の太陽熱を蓄え、夜間に放射するため、区画内は温暖な環境に保たれます。その影響で、暑い年にはブドウの成熟が非常に早く進みます。石灰岩含有量が高く痩せた土壌からは、ミネラルの骨格を備えた軽やかな赤ワインが造られます。また、上部の区画では白ワインも生産されています。主な所有者には、1.76ヘクタールを擁するドメーヌ・リュシアン・ミュザール・エ・フィスをはじめ、シャトー・ド・ラ・クリーやドメーヌ・メストルが名を連ねています。
Clos Faubard is a premier cru in Santenay, the southernmost traditional commune of the Côte de Beaune. Santenay sits at the foot of the slope where the Côte d'Or begins to dissolve into the Côte Chalonnaise, producing premier cru reds that can surprise with their depth given the relatively modest prices the appellation commands. Registered holdings total approximately 2.46 ha across five producers.
Pinot Noir, red only. Santenay tends toward earthy, sometimes mineral reds with firm tannin — a different profile from the silky elegance of Volnay to the north. Clos Faubard's position within the commune keeps it in that robust, age-worthy style.
