En Choue is a premier cru in Givry, the principal red-wine commune of the Côte Chalonnaise — a stretch of hillside south of the Côte d'Or that has historically produced Pinot Noirs of genuine character at unpretentious prices. Givry's wines were reportedly a favorite at the French royal court, though the commune has spent much of its history in the shadow of the Côte d'Or to the north. At 4.00 ha, En Choue is the kind of parcel where a dominant single owner sets the tone for what the climat tastes like.
