Sur les Grèves is a premier cru in Beaune, the historic wine capital of the Côte de Beaune. *Grèves* refers to gravel — the stony alluvial soils that run through this part of the appellation — and the *climat* sits as an adjunct to the larger and better-known Les Grèves directly below it. Beaune's ring of premier cru parcels is among the most extensive in Burgundy, with Sur les Grèves holding a modest footprint within that broader landscape.
