Le Paradis is a premier cru in Givry, the Côte Chalonnaise commune whose red wines were sought by the French royal court in the sixteenth century. Among the appellation's twenty-seven premier crus, names like Le Paradis hint at the affection growers once attached to their best parcels — plots that, in a good vintage, might justify the hyperbole.
Pinot Noir, red only. Premier cru regulations apply: 9,000 vines per hectare minimum, yields around 45–48 hl/ha, and potential alcohol starting near 11.0–11.5%.
