History

Domaine Michel & Sylvie Esmonin is a Gevrey-Chambertin estate with a single but significant holding: 1.60 hectares of Clos Saint-Jacques. The Esmonin family has deep roots in Gevrey — a separate branch runs Domaine Sylvie Esmonin — and this domaine represents the couple's own operation within the same village.

Winemaking Approach

Everything flows from one Premier Cru parcel. Clos Saint-Jacques sits on the western flank of the Gevrey-Chambertin hill above the village, with an easterly exposure and soils that produce Gevrey's most perfumed, structured expression short of the Grand Crus proper. At 1.60 ha, the holding is substantial enough to form a genuine single-vineyard program.
